Fwd: The first step to fight passiveness is to speak out

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Kulbhushan Singhal <sitakipariksha@gmail.com>

FROM: KULBHUSHAN SINGHAL

The first step to fight passiveness is to speak out

Please do not be so passive…

When passiveness prevailing in Hindu Society is being discussed, the first Dharm is to speak out and express yourself.

Humble request to you all: Please respond; EXPRESS Yourself!!!

When you will start doing this, you will realize that you are master of your DESTINY.

I have posted my views on certain important issues, affecting Hindus in previous letters. Now it is for you to carry this crusade forward. This is not against anyone but PRO HINDU AND HINDU SOCIETY.

Here are some simple thoughts which may motivate you to act:

1. It is important to remember that non bookish meaning of Sanatan Dharm is growth of entire Hindu Society on equal opportunity basis. Why this definition is not being given due publicity by religious organizations is baffling. However after independence, the Hindu society is becoming poorer and wealth of Gurus has increased manifold. Conclusions can be drawn by the readers. Hindus SPEAK!

2. Religion has 3 essential parts. 1) Pooja;2) Rituals; 3)Physical performing part. Hindus call the physical performing part of religion DHARM. It is this Dharm which was diluted by Saints to somehow save Hindus, during 1000 years of invaders rule. After independence, corruption, passiveness, exploitation of females and weaker section, can be attributed to non reintroduction of Dharm by Gurus.

3. Pooja and rituals are personal choice of an individual; Dharm or physical performing part of religion is NOT; IT HAS TO BE PERFORMED. It is so ordained by every religion. It is the absence of this Dharm which is lacking and making the Hindu society so PASSIVE that they accept Corruption, Non performance of Government as God wish. Tolerating ATTROCITIES is ADHARM.

4. We all talk of corruption, but we prefer to sit in our drawing rooms expressing our helplessness for what is happening. We forget that we have a democracy, and we can sort out most of the corruption related problems in case the entire society, Mohalla or sub sector walks out on street. And this is Dharm; not following this is Adharm, which would take one to HELL.

5. EVERY Hindu MUST feel proud to be born a Hindu. But it also gives every Hindu a responsibility of ensuring that Hindu society moves in a positive direction. Pride does not come by saying so, it comes from real NOTICEABLE and MEASURABLE accomplishments. We are living in an INFORMATION AGE, and we have statistics which intimates performance of Hindu Society after Independence.

6. There has always been difference between commitment toward nation and commitment towards an organization, or GURU. This difference was very apparent during 1000 years of invaders rule, when people holding loyalty to a particular clan/religious belief refused to think beyond that resulting in disunity, invaders rule, and atrocities, which spared none.

7. Alexander, though winning some battles, could not hold on to the gains. And Chanakya did play an important role in this. He did not advocate Bhakti to fight with Alexander; he did not advocate TAP, neither Mantra Siddhi nor Pooja and Rituals, but succeeded by following Karma. The thing to understand is that he used diplomacy, deceit, and sustained efforts (Karma) to achieve the objective.

MOST HUMBLE REQUEST WITH FOLDED HANDS >>> You cannot be a mute spectator when Hindu society is perishing !!

Regards

Kulbhushan

Take time to read and be fast in acting upon

Dr. Abdul Kalam's Letter to Every Indian

Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?
We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit.. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech1In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T.Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is.. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

..
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.

YOU say, say and say.. What do YOU do about it?

Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are.. You pay $5 (approx. Rs.. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity… In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai ... YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs..650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand ..
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India ?

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech2In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan ..
Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.

APJ Abdul Kalam Wings of fireWhen it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.
Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal m ., .m of introspection and pricks one's conscience too….. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..

'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'

Lets do what India needs from us.

APJ Abdul Kalam E-MailingForward this mail to each Indian for a change instead of sending Jokes or junk mails.

Thank you,

Dr.. Abdul Kalam

PLZ FORWARD TO EVERY PROUD INDIAN....
THANKS & REGARDS,
GAURAV RAJORA.

Maha Shivratri

Maha Shivratri  is a festival celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Maagha (as per Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama) or Phalguna (as per Vikrama) in the Hindu Calendar (that is, the night before and day of the new moon). The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil. Cannabis is traditionally used as an offering for Lord Shiva and his followers. Per scriptural and discipleship traditions, the penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach the goal more swiftly and avoid rebirth.
The twelve Jyotirlingas (lingams of light) are sacred shrines of Lord Shiva, and centres for his worship. They are known as Swayambhus, meaning the lingams sprung up by themselves at these places and temples were built there afterwards.
Twelve Jyotirlingas
The names and the locations of the 12 Jyotirlingas are mentioned in the Shiva Purana (Śatarudra Saṁhitā,Ch.42/2-4). These shrines are:

Vasant Panchami

Vasant Panchami (वसन्त पञ्चमी), sometimes referred to as Basant Panchami or Shree Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrating Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and art. It is celebrated every year on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Indian month Magh (January-February), the first day of spring. Traditionally during this festival children are taught to write their first words; brahmins are fed; ancestor worship (Pitr-tarpan) is performed; the god of love Kamadeva is worshipped; and most educational institutions organise special prayer for Saraswati. The color yellow also plays an important role in this festival, in that people usually wear yellow garments, Saraswati is worshipped dressed in yellow, and yellow sweets are consumed within the families.

Goddess Saraswati
Her expression is so serene and calm even as She is majestic. She is seated on a white lotus in Padmasana, adorned by a pure white silk sari, has a book in Her lower left hand, Her lower right hand showing the chinmudra, Aksharamala in Her right upper hand, and Amrithakalasam in Her left upper hand. Both eyes are full of compassion. The vehicle assigned to each of the three goddesses also symbolically represent their special powers.
Goddess Saraswathi is the consort of Lord Brahma (Lord of Creation) and is the Goddess of wisdom and learning. Saraswati is the one who gives the essence (sara) of our own self (swa). She is considered as the personification of all knowledge - arts, sciences, crafts and other skills. She has a beautiful and elegant presence, is pure white in colour, clad in a white sari, seated on a white lotus, representing purity and brilliance. She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She has the sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus (a symbol of true knowledge) in the second. With her other two hands she plays the music of love and life on the veena.
She is dressed in white (sign of purity) and rides on a white goose (swan). The swan is known for its peculiar characteristic of being capable of separating water from milk, indicating that we should possess discrimination in separating the bad from the good. The seat being a lotus or peacock implies that the teacher is well-established in the subjective experience of truth. When sitting on a peacock she reminds us that wisdom suppresses ego.
Devotees worship Her in temples, often by keeping books underneath Her idol. However, every year Saraswathi Pooja  is celebrated by people all over India, be it students, workers, craftsmen, businessmen offering their prayers for a successful and fruitful year. However, Saraswathi does have a temple in Koothanur in Tanjavur district (Tamil Nadu). There is an important Basar Saraswati Temple in Basar at a distance of 40 km from Nizamabad in Adilabad District, Andhra Pradesh on the banks of Godavari River. There is also a small but very old temple in Hasanpur and a relatively new one in Bakhri Bazar, Bihar. Wargal Saraswati Temple is located in Medak district in AP.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi ( 2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948) was the pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement. He pioneered satyagraha. This is defined as resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, a philosophy firmly founded upon ahimsa, or total nonviolence. This concept helped India to gain independence, and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Gandhi is often referred to as Mahatma Gandhi
He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday, 2 October, is commemorated there as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 by Nathuram Godse,
.
Gandhi first employed civil disobedience while an expatriate lawyer in South Africa, during the resident Indian community's struggle there for civil rights. After his return to India in 1915, he organised protests by peasants, farmers, and urban labourers concerning excessive land-tax and discrimination. After assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, build religious and ethnic amity, end untouchability, and increase economic self-reliance. Above all, he aimed to achieve Swaraj or the independence of India from foreign domination. Gandhi famously led his followers in the Non-cooperation movement that protested the British-imposed salt tax with the 400 km (240 mi) Dandi Salt March in 1930. Later, in 1942, he launched the Quit India civil disobedience movement demanding immediate independence for India. Gandhi spent a number of years in jail in both South Africa and India.

As a practitioner of ahimsa, Gandhi swore to speak the truth and advocated that others do the same. He lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community and wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven from yarn that he had spun by hand himself. He ate simple vegetarian food, experimented for a time with a fruitarian diet, and undertook long fasts as a means of both self-purification and social protest.

114th birth anniversary (23 January 1897)

Subhas Chandra Bose

Subhas Chandra Bose was born 23 January 1897, and is presumed to have died 18 August 1945 (although this is disputed). He was an Indian revolutionary who led an Indian national political and military force against Britain and the Western powers during World War II. Popularly known as Netaji (literally "Respected Leader"), Bose was one of the most prominent leaders in the Indian independence movement and is a legendary figure in India today.
Bose advocated complete independence for India at the earliest, whereas the All-India Congress Committee wanted it in phases, through Dominion status. Finally at the historic Lahore Congress convention, the Congress adopted Purna Swaraj (complete independence) as its motto. Bhagat Singh's martyrdom and the inability of the Congress leaders to save his life infuriated Bose and he started a movement opposing the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. He was imprisoned and expelled from India. Defying the ban, he came back to India and was imprisoned again.
Bose was elected president of the Indian National Congress for two consecutive terms, but had to resign from the post following ideological conflicts with Mohandas K. Gandhi and after openly attacking the Congress' foreign and internal policies. Bose believed that Gandhi's tactics of non-violence would never be sufficient to secure India's independence, and advocated violent resistance. He established a separate political party, the All India Forward Bloc and continued to call for the full and immediate independence of India from British rule. He was imprisoned by the British authorities eleven times. His famous motto was "Give me blood and I will give you freedom".
His stance did not change with the outbreak of the Second World War, which he saw as an opportunity to take advantage of British weakness. At the outset of the war, he left India, travelling to the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, seeking an alliance with each of them to attack the British government in India. With Imperial Japanese assistance, he re-organised and later led the Azad Hind Fauj or Indian National Army (INA), formed with Indian prisoners-of-war and plantation workers from British Malaya, Singapore, and other parts of Southeast Asia, against British forces. With Japanese monetary, political, diplomatic and military assistance, he formed the Azad Hind Government in exile, and regrouped and led the Indian National Army in failed military campaigns against the allies at Imphal and in Burma.
His political views and the alliances he made with Nazi and other militarist regimes at war with Britain have been the cause of arguments among historians and politicians, with some accusing him of fascist sympathies, while others in India have been more sympathetic towards the realpolitik that guided his social and political choices.
He is presumed to have died on 18 August 1945 in a plane crash in Taiwan, though the evidence for his death in such an accident has not been universally accepted (

Ganga in Hinduism

Birth
There are several Hindu beliefs that give various versions of the birth of Ganga. According to one version, the sacred water in Brahma's Kamandalu (water-vessel) became personified as a maiden, Ganga. According to another (Vaishnavite) legend, Brahma had reverently washed the feet of Vishnu and collected this water in his Kamandalu. According to yet a third version, Ganga was the daughter of Himavan, king of the mountains, and his consort Mena; she was thus a sister of the goddess Parvati. Every version declares that she was raised in the heavens, under the tutelage of Brahma

Descent to earth

Several years later, a king named Sagara magically acquired sixty thousand sons. One day, King Sagar performed a ritual of worship for the good of the kingdom]. One of the integral parts of the ritual was a horse, which was stolen by the jealous Indra. Sagara sent all his sons all over the earth to search for the horse. They found it in the nether-world (or Underworld) next to a meditating sage Kapila. Believing that the sage had stolen the horse, they hurled insults at him and caused his penance to be disturbed. The sage opened his eyes for the first time in several years, and looked at the sons of Sagara. With this glance, all sixty thousand were burnt to death.[1]
The souls of the sons of Sagara wandered as ghosts since their final rites had not been performed. When Bhagiratha, one of the descendants of Sagara, son of Dilip, learnt of this fate, he vowed to bring Ganga down to Earth so that her waters could cleanse their souls and release them to heaven.
Bhagiratha prayed to Brahma that Ganga come down to Earth. Brahma agreed, and he ordered Ganga to go down to the Earth and then on to the nether regions so that the souls of Bhagiratha's ancestors would be able to go to heaven. Ganga felt that this was insulting and decided to sweep the whole earth away as she fell from the heavens. Alarmed, Bhagiratha prayed to Shiva that he break up Ganga's descent.
Ganga arrogantly fell on Shiva's head. But Shiva calmly trapped her in his hair and let her out in small streams. The touch of Shiva further sanctified Ganga. As Ganga travelled to the nether-worlds, she created a different stream to remain on Earth to help purify unfortunate souls there. She is the only river to follow from all the three worlds - Swarga (heaven), Prithvi (earth) and, Patala (neitherworld or hell). Thus is called "Tripathagā" ( one who travels the three worlds) in Sanskrit language.
Because of Bhagiratha's efforts Ganga descended on to earth and hence the river is also known as Bhagirathi, and the term "Bhagirath prayatna" is used to describe valiant efforts or difficult achievements.
Another name that Ganga is known by is Jahnavi. Story has it that once Ganga came down to earth, on her way to Bhagiratha, her rushing waters created turbulence and destroyed the fields and the sadhana of a sage called Jahnu. He was angered by this and drank up all of Ganga's waters. Upon this, the Gods prayed to Jahnu to release Ganga so that she could proceed on her mission. Pleased with their prayers, Jahnu released Ganga (her waters) from his ears. Hence the name "Jahnavi" (daughter of Jahnu) for Ganga.
It is sometime believed that the river will finally dry up at the end of Kali Yuga (the era of darkness, the current era) just as with the Sarasvati river, and this era will end. Next in (cyclic) order will be the Satya Yuga or the era of Truth.

ART OF LIFE

Living in the favorable and unfavorable situation is PART OF LIFE,But smiling in all those situations is ART OF LIFE

Over 1 Lakh 16 Thousand Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships Awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for Professional and Technical Education

Vice President Releases 'Annual Status of Education Report (Aser)-2010'

Prime Minister should answer that what action has been taken by the Shunglu Committee after 90 days against the corrupt persons – Vijender Gupta

New Delhi, 15th January.  After completion of 90 days of setting up the Shunglu Committee for enquiry into the bungling in the Commonwealth Games, the BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has raised a question to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that he should tell the countrymen that what steps have been taken by Shunglu Committee to punish the persons who committed bungling in the Games? It may be mentioned that Prime Minister had claimed that within 3 months Shunglu Committee will find out what is truth in the complaints of corruption. The guilty persons shall be sternly punished, so that the people occupying high government positions shall think twice before committing corruption in future.

Shri Gupta told that people have forgotten even the name of Shunglu Committee during these 3 months.  In the mean time CBI has started covering up the bunglings related to the Games. Under the pressure of Government the CBI does not want that the persons involved in the bungling may be punished.  Hence, it allowed T.S. Darbari to get bail so that he may be able to destroy the proofs coming out of Jail.

It may be mentioned that the former joint director general of CWG organizing committee T.S. Darbari got bail on the 14th January due to the failure of CBI to file chargesheet against him. Shri Gupta told that when the former head of Organizing Committee revealed that all the contracts related to the Games were awarded after taking 15 percent bribe then why the CBI and Shunglu Committee have let Mr. Suresh Kalmadi and other officers of Delhi Government go Scot free?

It may be mentioned that recently after filing FIR for the fourth time in the case of Games, CBI has said that out of the contracts awarded to four firms for temporary constructions and decoration work connected with the Games, the officers of Games Organization Committee took bribe of more than 900 crores from all the firms. It is surprising that even after finding cases of bribery and getting a lot of proof about bribery the Shunglu Committee and CBI have not made sufficient progress in the enquiry and has not thought proper to catch the big offenders. The long speeches of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh etc. in the Congress plenary at Burari have proved to be hollow.

Shri Gupta told that Delhi Government executed works of about 25 to 32 thousand crores but not a single FIR has been filed by the CBI against any Minister or officer till date. Under pressure CBI has not interrogated any influential person connected with Delhi Government till date. CBI is working at snails pace so that enquiry may be completed but nobody is punished. Shri Gupta added that NIA should investigate all the bunglings connected with Commonwealth Games and all the cases should tried by fast track courts so that the guilty persons may be punished and the persons involved in bungling occupying high position in government may be afraid of committing any bungling.
